What's New?

Today is the longest day of the year. Of course, as usual, I missed it. I know I promised a new photo album soon and I haven't followed through. I apologize. I've been busy. I'm still working on it. Of course, I have a lot more pictures to add to it now because I've been taking a lot of pictures lately. The good news is that I have a brand new, adorable (of course!) grandson. He is now a little over a month old and doing quite well. If I ever have the time to finish my photo application, you'll probably get to see tons of pictures of him.

Life is pretty good. I made it through NaNoWriMo this year for the first time since 2003 when I wrote APES in Space. I may not have gotten around to editing that one yet, but I will. This year's novel, Queen of Underearth is much better than any of the previous two successes. It actually needs very little editing before I can start submitting it. Editing begins during NaNoEdMo (that's February in case you didn't know.)

My personal life is going well also. My father visited our new house for the first time on Christmas Day. He's eitehr been in the hospital or in a nursing home since we bought the house. He has finally gotten well enough to leave the nursing home for the day and I'm pleased to say that he had a good time. We all did, for that matter. It was nice to have him with us again. We were pretty sure that we had lost him when he went in the hospital in August but he's stronger than any of us knew. Now we're planning for his next birthday in March.

I've been thinking about goals this past few weeks and I've decided that this will be the year that I achieve professional status. I may already be a professional when it comes to non-fiction, but I want this to be the year that I become a professional when it comes to fiction as well. That means that I have to make three professional level short story sales or one book-length sale. I'll keep you posted.

As you can see, I have started the re-design of my site. The conversion to ASPX is complete and the database has been started. I've got lots of work to do yet, but change is clearly in the air.

I am (of course) bursting with ideas for new features and for changing the existing features of this site. So, if "geek stuff" interests you, check back often. You never know what you might find.
